multiplicity of voice in music<\/div>\n<div id=\"inhaltsangabe\">\n<p>With its own set of rules, each of the stages of polyphony shown below displays an aesthetic world of sound, a world characterised by the degree of distance created between the <span class=\"kursiv\">tonal worlds of the individual voices<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that both harmonically and rhythmically, an ever-expanding distance between the individual voices can be perceived as <span class=\"kursiv\">a musical \u2018whole\u2019<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The distance between the voices can consist in differing harmonic spaces or different rhythmic levels &#8230; or in both together.<\/p>\n<p>Mental polyphony exists where the listening or performing consciousness is nevertheless able to comprehend musical events taking place in otherwise <span class=\"kursiv\">dissociated tonal worlds<\/span> as <span class=\"kursiv\">part of the same musical situation<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Awareness of the diversity of possible tonal languages\/tonal worlds and a growing ability to grasp this fact and enlist it artistically are both a source of enrichment for the palette of musical possibilities for <span class=\"kursiv\">latitude in the composition and production<\/span> of contemporary musical events.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section \/>\nPlaying simultaneous in a recurrent succession of for the most part functionally interrelated chords<br \/>\nExample: chord changes in jazz<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bitonality<\/strong><br \/>\nPlaying simultaneously in two different keys<br \/>\nExample: Bart\u00f3k, \u2018Mikrokosmos\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Multitonality<\/strong><br \/>\nPlaying simultaneously in multiple different keys<br \/>\nExample: Ornette Coleman, \u2018harmolodics\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Atonality<\/strong><br \/>\nPlaying simultaneously in the potentially twelve-tone space without more than a temporary reference to a key.<br
